Miami-Dade is a big county, and "we serve Miami" can mean very different things. This page explains where Beaton Care Services actually sends technicians and BCBAs, how in-home therapy is scheduled across that distance, and what to expect at the first visit.
Where we work
Our office is in Kendall, at 14335 SW 120th St, Unit 110, and our teams serve families throughout Miami-Dade County, including:
- South Dade: Kendall, The Hammocks, Country Walk, Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Homestead, Florida City
- West: Westchester, Sweetwater, Tamiami, Doral, Fontainebleau, West Kendall
- North and central: Hialeah, Miami Lakes, Miami Springs, Little Havana, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Downtown
- Northeast: North Miami, Miami Shores, Aventura and nearby
Coverage in any specific neighborhood depends on technician availability at the time you enroll, and we will tell you honestly on the first call whether we can start in your area now or need a few weeks to place someone.
Why in-home
Children learn skills where they need to use them. A toddler who learns to request juice at our office still has to do it in your kitchen. Working in the home also lets the BCBA see the real routines (mornings, bath time, siblings) that most behavior problems are tied to, and it makes parent training practical instead of theoretical. For school-age children, many plans combine home sessions with school-based sessions, coordinated with the classroom teacher and IEP team.
How scheduling works
Once the assessment is complete and the plan is authorized, the BCBA and our scheduling team assign a technician based on your location, your available hours, your child's needs and language. A few things families find useful to know:
- Consistency over convenience. We aim for the same technician at the same times each week. Toddlers especially do better with a predictable person.
- Sessions are typically two to three hours for young children, several days a week; the plan sets the total.
- After-school hours fill first. If your child is in school and you need late afternoons, tell us early.
- Travel time is ours, not yours. Sessions start at the scheduled time at your door.
The first visit
The first in-home visit is usually the BCBA's assessment observation, before any technician is assigned. The BCBA will:
- Talk with you about your child's day, routines, what is working and what is not.
- Observe your child at play and in a couple of ordinary routines.
- Begin standardized assessment activities, which look like play to your child.
- Explain what the plan will likely include and answer questions.
You do not need to prepare anything or clean up. Real conditions are the point.
Language
Most Miami-Dade families we serve speak Spanish at home, and many speak both. Our BCBAs and most technicians are bilingual. Sessions and parent training happen in the language your child hears at home, and reports are explained in whichever language you prefer.
Insurance
We are contracted with Florida Medicaid plans including Molina (all lines, including the CMS Health Plan) and Sunshine Health, and with several private plans. If you are not sure what you have, send us the plan name and we will check before any visit.
